Whether we're flowing through Yin poses, building strength in backbends, or finding peace in relaxing stretches, practicing with others creates magic. The collective breathing creates rhythm, beginners learn by watching experienced students, and everyone finds motivation in shared commitment.
Some of my students have become best friends through group class. You'll practice next to the same people weekly, share struggles and breakthroughs, and build real connections.
In group class, you see how different people adapt poses to their bodies. Some days you follow the strong student, other days you learn from someone taking it easy.
When you know your yoga friends expect to see you, it's easier to show up. Group energy carries you through tough days when solo practice feels impossible.
I teach five different styles in group format - Yin Yoga for deep release, Backbend classes for strength, Relaxing Stretch for stress relief, Myofascial Release for recovery, and Ashtanga Basic for traditional practice. Here's what makes group classes special:
You'll arrive to see familiar faces setting up their mats. We start together, move together, and breathe together. I walk around giving adjustments while keeping everyone moving at the same pace. It's like a dance where everyone knows they belong.
Hold poses for 3-5 minutes while using props. Great when your body feels tight from sitting all day or after sports. The group's collective stillness helps you stay in challenging poses longer than you would alone.
Build strength and open your heart. Everyone struggles with backbends, so the group encouragement gets you further than practicing alone. We work up to bigger poses together.
End-of-week unwinding. Gentle movements to release tension from daily stress. The group energy helps you actually relax instead of thinking about tomorrow's to-do list.
Using balls and rollers to work out knots and tight spots. It's less awkward when everyone is groaning together. We share tips on the best pressure points.
Traditional sequence as I learned in Mysore. We go slow, break down each pose, and everyone learns the Sanskrit count together.
First timers always welcome. Just show up 10 minutes early and I'll help you get settled.
Join ClassesDon't worry about being perfect. Everyone remembers their first class. We'll save you a spot in the back corner if you want, or front row if you're brave. Either way, you'll leave feeling like you belong.
