A Challenge for Both Body and Mind

Controlling a Drop Back isn't just a physical challenge -- it's a mental one too. This movement asks you to push past your body's limits while overcoming the fear of losing control. You have to learn to let go and allow your spine and your mind to extend backward together.


Four Key Techniques

Key tips:

1. Stabilize Your Core

Before going into Drop Back, make sure your core is engaged. Keep your lower abdomen drawn in to support your spine and prevent your back from taking on too much weight.

2. Open Your Chest

Start from the ribcage and let your chest lift up and back. This keeps the back supple and prevents compression.

3. Ground Your Feet

Foot stability is everything. Press your heels firmly into the floor -- like they're glued to the ground -- to give the whole movement a solid foundation.

4. Practice Letting Go

Drop Back means battling fear and self-imposed limits. With each attempt, learn to relax and accept wherever you are in that moment.
